About

kfm600_mdmI have been tuning and repairing pianos in the Boston area since 1979. My goal is to make you love your piano again. You may own a new Steinway, Yamaha, or Kawai grand piano; or a Baldwin spinet you were given by friends, or you found it on CraigsList. It’s most gratifying to bring out the best in a concert level instrument, and also very satisfying to bring a much neglected console or studio upright back into “musical condition” for a new generation of piano students.

After completing a program in piano technology and grand rebuilding (Robert Perkins School of Piano Technology, Cleveland, Ohio, 1977) I joined the Boston Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild and then passed the exams to be a Registered Piano Technician (1979). Since then I have been very active in our Guild’s local, regional, and national leadership. We continually upgrade our skills through regular technical training programs.

Since the early 1980s I have been an independent piano technician,  maintaining pianos for concert venues, schools, and many private clientele. My specialization is as a “field service technician “: going to your home, evaluating your piano’s condition and discussing your musical needs and ambitions, and then providing the appropriate service.

Contact me by phone (978) 663-9690 or (781) 729-4321 or by email (draine@me.com), to to make an appointment, or to discuss your piano’s service needs.
